Wildpoldsried is the smallest village in the district of Oberallgaeu. The municipality is known internationally as an energy village, which generates more energy by means of renewable energies than it consumes itself . Wildpoldsried was mentioned for the first time in 1392 and belonged before 1800 to the monastry of Kempten. Since 1803 the place belongs to Bavaria. The village is situated at an altitude of 724m in the Leubastal valley, surrounded by the gentle hilly landscape of the Allgäu pre-Alps. The parish church of St. George and Mauritius with its famous deer antler candelabrum and the village museum are also worth a visit. The bathing pond "WiWaLaMoor" provides refreshment on hot summer days. Wildpoldsried and the surrounding area offer numerous cycling and hiking trails for active guests. In Wildpoldsried, winter sports enthusiasts will find some 26 km of cross-country ski trails for the classic and skating styles in various levels of difficulty
